By deepening children's connection with nature, school gardening can inspire a sense of caring about the environment as well as learning where food actually comes from. Gardening offers hands-on experimental learning opportunities in a wide variety of ways including Science, Math, Language Arts, Visual Arts, and Nutrition.
Gardening also lets students have an opportunity for exercise and an enjoyment of the outdoors. Students can also engage with activities in a way that would be impossible to duplicate inside a classroom.
We also compost at our preschool, so students can see how nature recycles to feed nutrients back into the soil while minimizing landfill waste.
